This week, we explore the world of Nutrition.

  • Monday, we have a video on “Obesity and Nutrition”
  • Tuesday is a lecture on Nutrition itself.  Students will complete and turn in their Nutrition Label projects on Thursday.  Directions are located on the Projects tab on this site.
  • Wednesday, we will watch a video on the new “My Pyramid”. In addition, the review questions for Chapter 7 are assigned, p. 184, #4-24.  Please copy and answer these items in your notebooks.
  • Thursday, Nutrition Label Project is due.  We will complete our lecture on Chapter 7.
  • Friday, Chapter 7 Quiz review and Quiz.

This week we explore Fitness and Exercise in our studies.  Class and homework assignments include:

  • Chapter 6 Key Terms (p. 149)
  • Chapter 6 Review Questions (p. 150, #3-24)
  • Video on “Nutrition and Exercise”
  • Acquiring 5 Nutrition Labels for an activity for next week

In addition, each student will bring home a copy of their assignment summary and grade for the class this Friday. Please, have this signed and brought back on Monday (26th).  Any assignments that need to be made up are required to be turned in next Monday (26th) for credit.

During this shortened week (Tuesday’s Teacher Inservice), we are exploring the final chapter (Chapter 5) of our unit on mental and emotional health.

As of this post, our current homework is to read Chapter 5 (p. 102-118) and identify/define the Keyterms for the chapter (p. 119).

Students can move  ahead and copy/complete the end of chapter review questions located on page 120, #3-20 in their notebooks.

Textbooks are to be brought into class on Wednesday for our customary textbook check and Independent Practice.  Thursday we’ll work in our Workbooks (p. 16-18) and Friday involves a video on Anger Management.

Please study Chapter 5 this weekend for Monday’s quiz and complete all workbook items as well.  In addition, please bring in five (5) nutrition labels from various food items from home.  We’ll begin our next unit on Fitness and Nutrition next week!

Our topic of study this week is stress and the management of stress in one’s life (Chapter 4).  Students were given homework over the weekend to identify and define the key terms from the chapter and write them in their notebooks (p. 97).

In addition, students will receive their health workbooks and begin work on pages 4, 7 and 12 on Monday.

I will provide information related to Stress and Loss as mentioned in our text with lessons that will help in the every day and we’ll have a notebook/textbook check on Wednesday, Quiz on Thursday and an introduction to Chapter 5 (Preventing Violence and Abuse) on Friday.

In addition, we will be working on the review questions for the chapter on page 98, #3-20.  These are to be copied and answered in your notebook.
